What is a code audit for AI‑built apps?

A code audit tells you what in your app works, what needs fixing, and what can wait.

It's called a Codebase Audit: an AI code audit led by AL, who reviews your code with AI and checks what it finds.

Why is a code audit recommended?

A Codebase Audit finds what your AI tool didn't check.

AI tools build what you ask for. They rarely tell you what you didn't ask for.

Your app works on your screen because you're the owner, and the owner can see everything. Your customers see something different.

Before you launch

Fix problems before your customers run into them.

Before you take payments or store customer details

Know what your app needs first.

Before you add the next big feature

Grow your app without breaking what already works.

What does a code audit give you?

Security best-practice review

Know which security gaps to fix first

A ranked list of security fixes, checked against the OWASP Top 10, the industry's standard list of web app security risks.

Architecture review

Know if your app can handle more customers

Grow without slowdowns as your users, data and connected services (email, payments, file storage, AI) grow.

Modularity review

Change your app later without starting over

Freedom to add features, switch services or move your app off the platform you built it on.

What does a code audit check before customers use your app?

The gaps AI tools commonly leave, in three groups:

Your customers' information

  • Keys to paid services left visible (API keys)
  • One user seeing another user's information
  • Database rules for who opens what
  • Uploaded files the wrong people can open
  • Reset emails pointing to a test address

Payments and connections

  • Payment messages that aren't verified (webhooks)
  • Back-end connections left public (endpoints)
  • Scripts loaded from other websites
  • Test settings left on, like test payment keys

Keeping your app running

  • Limits that stop one bot from flooding your app
  • Slowdowns when many people use it at once
  • Records of errors and activity (audit logging)
  • Outdated packages with known security holes
  • Browser security settings (security headers)

How does a code audit work?

1

Your code stays untouched

Read-only access to your GitHub repository, so nothing in your app changes.

Not on GitHub yet? We'll help you get it there.

2

Your code stays out of AI training

AL works on an AI account that doesn't learn from client work.

How much does a code audit cost?

A Codebase Audit starts at $900 CAD.

Larger codebases can need more review time.

Is $900 a lot for an app that already works? It shows what to fix before customers rely on it.

You spend only on the fixes your app needs.

Do I need to rebuild my AI‑built app?

Not necessarily. What you built with AI isn't throwaway.

Your screens and the way your app works already show exactly what you want.

A Codebase Audit shows how to build on what you have.

Can you build just the one piece my AI‑built app needs before launch?

Yes.

Owners ask us: what's the least development work my app needs to get to market, so I can get paying customers and raise funds?

Often it's one part, like a separate place for sensitive documents that only your app can reach.

Sometimes it's a new back end behind the screens you already built, so you keep the front end your customers like.

AL builds what's needed, while you keep building the rest yourself.

Your Codebase Audit shows which part that is.

Who does the Codebase Audit?

AL Del Degan, CTO and co-founder.

Get advice that fits how your app was made.

AL builds with AI-assisted development every day, and wrote the guardrails business owners and founders use to vibe code at the Build your internal tools or prototype bootcamp.

What do owners of AI‑built apps ask about a code audit?

How do I know if my vibe coded app is ready for real users?

A Codebase Audit shows you what to fix before real users sign up and what can wait. It doesn't certify your app as secure or launch-ready: it gives you the list.

I built my app with AI quickly. Should I be worried about security?

Be prepared rather than worried. AI tools build working screens fast, and they don't always set up the parts you can't see. A Codebase Audit checks those parts, so you know what to set up before customers sign up.

Can't I just ask my AI tool to review my code?

You can, and it will catch the basics. It can't look for a problem nobody asked about, and it may tell you the work is finished when it isn't. AL knows where problems usually hide and points the AI there.

Doesn't my AI tool's built-in security check already do this?

Built-in and free scanners look for known patterns, like a password left in your code. They can miss the same permission check written several different ways because the AI lost track; AL catches those. A Codebase Audit adds a CTO's judgment on what's worth keeping.

If I didn't write the code myself, can a developer still work with it?

Usually, yes. The modularity review shows how easy your app is to change, so you know whether you, your AI tool or a developer can add features later.

Can I move my app off the platform I built it on?

Often, yes. The modularity review shows which parts are tied to the platform and what it takes to move them. That's much better than an AI vendor where your business becomes dependent on their proprietary platform.

Is a code audit the same as a security audit or a penetration test?

No. A Codebase Audit reviews how your app is built. A penetration test is a security firm trying to break into your live app, and a security audit checks your business against a formal standard such as SOC 2.

Need one of those? We'll introduce you to a security firm that does this work, and you can share your Codebase Audit reports with them.

What does an app with personal or payment information need?

It depends on the data: personal information, payments and health information each come with their own rules. A Codebase Audit shows where your app handles that kind of data, so you know when to bring in a security firm. What a security review costs in Canada

Is vibe coding bad for my business?

No. Building with AI gets a working app in front of customers fast. Why agencies dismiss apps built with AI, and how to tell the difference

How long does a code audit take?

A Codebase Audit takes three hours of AL's time: two hours reviewing your code and a one-hour meeting with you. You get your delivery date before AL starts.

Can I fix the problems from a code audit myself?

Yes. Your reports are yours: feed them to your AI tool and have it make the changes, hand them to your own developer, or hire our development team.

Does it matter which tool I used to build my app?

No. A Codebase Audit works for any app whose code can go in GitHub, whether you built it with AI, hired a developer, or both.

Who helps me after launch?
